Tegorocznym zwycięzcą regat został Ken Read na jachcie ?Comanche?. Ken wraz ze swoją załogą pokonał dystans 628 mil morskich z Sydney do Hobart na Tasmanii w czasie 2 dni 8 godzin 58 minut i 30 sekund. Wielkie gratulacje dla zwycięzców którzy pomimo uszkodzeń jachtu spowodowanych uderzeniem w pływający obiekt zdołali mimo wszystko ukończyć i wygrać ten wyścig.
Drugie miejsce po pasjonującej końcówce wyścigu zajął Syd Fischer na jachcie ?Ragamuffin 100? doganiając wyprzedzając na ostatnich 50 milach jacht Georga Davida ?Rambler?. Obydwa jachty, podobnie jak zwycięzcy regat kończyły rejs uszkodzone.
W tym roku niestety nie startował żaden polski jacht.
